Schiller Marching Tuba

Okay....
Fishing for information.
My son is pretty well locked on to make Blue Stars this year.
He is currently using the schools Yamaha convertible tuba that is pretty beat up and is small.....and stuff
Blue Stars uses King 1151s and if he makes it they will provide a tuba for him.
He feels that it would be nice if he could get (okay....I could get) one of the Kings.
They run $4900 and up (where I can find them)
But there is this Schiller on ebay....

My questions relate to is this a reasonable fill in for a King.
Should I even bother with getting this (no rentals available in the area) as if he makes Blue Stars they will equip him with one of their kings in May 2010.
