I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that that thing looks like it would be a kick in the pants to play. If I was in a trad. jazz band I would smarf that thing up in a second.

Is this the model that some think sounds better than a 20J? (Not trying to start a tuba war!)

I've always prefered the valves on the Martin tuba over the short action ones on the 20-24J's. If anyone has a question on my Martin for sale please e-mail me.
Thanks,
Matt

Not that I've ever thought this was much relevant, I've always been curious of the bore size of these...

I'd be happy to help determine the bore size if someone could tell me where to measure from.
Thanks,
Matt

You pull out any valve slide and measure the inside diameter of that inside slide tube. Piece o' cake

Ok I measured the second tuning slide and it came out to 3/4 an inch. After playing on the tuba today without the bell on I bet it could make a nice concert horn with an upright bell. Has anyone played one of these Martins with an upright bell?I've grown attached to side action valve horns and feel more comfortable holding my King 1241 tuba.
