Thank you for the nice compliment on the horn. It seems many tubas were produce in Elkhart Indiana but I'm not sure if it did come out of the Conn factory or not. It would be interesting to find out though if anyone has information about this let me know.
I brought the tuba from Mike Walbridge in Chicago, one of the famous dixieland jazz tuba player in the area. He always took pride in his horns and made sure it was restored right. I've used this horn in the West End Jazz Band out of Chicago but don't play with the group enough to keep such a large tuba. This horn needs a new home to be played. I've bet if someone made an upright bell for this tuba it would make one heck of a BBb concert tuba!
I'll have to get back to you on the bore size. The body case does have wheels to help get it around. It weighs a ton with case and horn.
Anyone have any questions please e-mail me or post them.
Thank You,
Matt Puralewski
