Well.... sort of 'refinished'. I heard a drill instructor ask another sailor once, "Whud you shine those shoes with? ... A Hershey bar".

I guess they could have put up the wrong pictures.

Hmm, I guess it's possible that someone sprayed some lacquer on this, but they sure as heck didn't do any prep first. They specifically say that it "Looks Excellent. Has 0% Wear." I wonder what they call those scrapes in the bell then? I guess they must be under the "new" lacquer. This isn't even considering the bent braces or all the dents. At least they show honest photos.

Yes, apparently it is not a `better than new' restoration. The ad mentions bell wrinkles. Maybe the "wear" figure applies to the pistons - that's the moving part on a baritone horn that comes to mind that's subject to wear.

They're asking $430, but you can make an offer. I guess it's a shame that someone didn't grab this '70s Conn bell front and lovingly erase all every dent and scratch, and maybe give it a nice glowing satin silver plate finish, but on the bright side, it's $430. Would you rather have the Chinese equivalent? Would be more troubled by no case, than the finish details.

And it's good to see a normal lacquer finish, I didn't care for the brushed "antique" finish these guys have done in the past. "New Gold King Lacquer" is a little worrisome, King isn't exactly famous for their lovely lacquer, but I guess I'm thinking of Old Gold King Lacquer.

You guys are sure a tough crowd. I've heard of de-greasing, and I only read Tubenet. These guys have been around for a while, maybe they know what they're doing?

Um, no. Refinishing REQUIRES a lot of stuff, Donn. Period. That lacquer will peel very soon. They do NOT know what they are doing, or the job would have been done properly. "Knowing what you are doing" means that you do what you know. Please do not try and tell those of us with lots of refinishing experience what we are seeing plainly in the photos unless you actually have an opinion based on experience. WTF?
