Jeez. I don't think I could do that with a clear conscience.

I emailed him earlier after I saw it on CL. He sheepishly wrote back; "My wife just informed me that she paid $1800 for it!"

Funny. My cousing lives on Long Island and she said that is going over there today.

That's entirely possible, but she won't be getting it for $75. The Seller wrote me and said he couldn't sell for that price but if I wanted it I could make an offer for it. I'm sure she'll still get a great deal on it. Seems like those folks want it gone now that the son no longer uses it!

What was the original item listing? Now that it is gone I have no idea.

For whatever reason, the unknown is always more tantalizing than the known

... and the known was plenty tantalizing! Haunts my dreams. Maybe someday, there'll be a chance to recover what could have been ... but I'm not young, there are only so many years.

It was a '60s or '70s vintage German horn on offer for $75. It could have been a 186 or a Karl Ziess or any number of others, as far as I know. Maybe even an Alex. The ad didn't say. Someone who knows a tuba on sight better than I do could probably say definitively. To me it looked an awful lot like the Karl Ziess I played in high school. But it was something like that, for seventy-five bucks.

Damn....and I grew up on Long Island. My folks could have gone to pick it up. :( Then again....for $75 it could be a pervert trying to attract tuba players.

Image
"...you want a tuba? mmmmm"

The pervert comment had nothing to do with original seller. The statement was for humor only.
