I have one of those. The tuning slide is in the leadpipe, and that section lies against the body, next to and in the same plane as the first valve loop. On this one, I guess it ain't a tuning slide any more, and that strut between it and the first valve loop is of course not from the factory. That's the only damage I can see that looks like it was done on purpose. Ergonomics aren't one of this tuba's strengths; that's the only reason I can think of for it, though I can't see how it would help.

Its main potential may be for a high repair.

Lignatone is the same a Cerveny just in a lower level of outfit in respect to nickel silver trim.

The piston Lignatone instruments are the same as Amati. There I am more reserved, as I like neither their designs nor the quality of the valves.

The problem, with this present auction are about a far too damaged instrument set at a far too high starting bid. I wouldn’t want it even for free.
