Could be wrong... wouldn't be the first time. But I'm pretty sure Yamaha briefly made a model(possibly 661?) that was essentially a copy of a Cerveny Piggy. It didn't last.

I don't have any direct experience with that model but this certainly fits that description.

That is one of the horns that the store in Portland is liquidating for the guy who retired from the Oregon symphony. It's the only C so far the rest being Bb or Eb. I'm sure this is a fraud. AND we had one of these in the late 80's in the Disney World band when Yamaha was trying to be the official instrument of WDW. It was nice and alot physically bigger than a Piggy.Ed

I recently played at the Bayou City Community Band Festival and one the of guys in the section had one--we thought it was a custom job but it was a production model from the 80's. Great looking axe and sounded even better.

I used to own one of these. They were fine playing instruments. If Yamaha still made this model (I forgot the model #), I'd buy one. I sold mine to Deanna Swoboda XX years ago. (Wish I still had it). I'd be interested in buying this horn. Anyone know where it is?

Greetings TubeNetters
I know for a fact that the retired tubaist of the Oregon Symphony did own a Yamaha CC with rotary valves. He is a man of unimpeachable reputation, great generosity, and remarkable intellect. Yes, most of his horns are BBb or Eb, but he did have a few CC horns, including a CC/F double tuba.

The tuba, I'm sure exists somewhere, just not in the seller's possession. He's got plenty of beanie babies and various other infant items should you be interested. Make sure to contact him before you bid so he can discuss how to circumvent Ebay alltogether in the payment/shipping portion of the transaction.

I think Bloke's bus left alot of people standing on the curb this time...

Greetings Again
After "stumbling" across the auction in question, I suspect Bloke's assumption is correct. John is auctioning his horns via Portland Music Co., not this seller.

Is Dr. John still with us? I heard he'd passed...

Hi,

I've got one of these tubas and it's great ... No complaints.
