21J fixer

Here's a 21J fixer. Missing the leadpipe and #1 valve. Typical dents. Not severely thrashed but has stuck slides, broken solder joints. Since it is a 21J, it has the upright bell which is in reasonable condition. No whangs but lacquer is 'aged'. It has potential to be fixed up or have its bell robbed for use on a 2xJ in better condition than this one....

The trouble with this is unless you have a 1st valve for one of these, or know someone who does you might have trouble finding one. You cannot use 20K valves in these because they are a different bore size and the guide pins aren't in the same place.

a few years ago pistons for these horns were readily available through Allied Supply. Something may have changed since. That bell is worth more than the body!

As of a few weeks ago... Allied only had a few #2 pistons. They may be gone now.

If I bought this tuba, I'd likely take the bell, strip and buff the body, insert piston #1, attach my front bell and sell a working nice tuba. If the valve casings are all messed up I would cut and paste my set into it and again sell with a forward bell.

Gopher it! If you do the work, you might make a little loot on the deal.
