As for the original link: I see no photos, so there is not even basis for an informed guess.

As for high pitch: The highest version of high pitch I ever heard of in a bands’ instruments’ context was the pre-WWI Bohemian military (and hence also amateur) pitch, which was A=467Hz. That is quite exactly a semitone above A=440Hz. I rarely heard about anybody confusing even that version of high pitch with CC tuning.

Factory made Sousaphones in CC are uber-rare.

I am not saying that it isn't possible for this Sousaphone to be pitched in CC, I am saying that it just isn't likely.

Klaus is right though. Without any more information than the seller provided, you can't make any educated decisions one way or the other.

According to the sells it is a true "c" sousaphone a York artist. I don't know how to differentiate BBb sousas from cc's so I'll take his word for it.

Does the seller have a musical background allowing you to rely on his word?

If the seller is so convinced about having such rarity for sale, why not provide you photos, which in turn would allow TubeNetters to help you determine the likely pitch of this sousaphone?

But of course, if you have lots of surplus money just rely on the seller.

If it says York "Artist", then it would be a Fischer-York, which means post-WWII. Which means also not High Pitch, but I've seen NOTHING in the Fischer era to suggest a CC sousaphone.

Perhaps the wrong (or lack of) gooseneck/bits, wrong bell, or a misinterpretation of the fact that it reads untransposed music?
