Pitch conversion?

At first look a run of the mill old British tenor trombone with decorated ferrules and stays.
But what is the tubing to the right in the top photo?
My immediate take is a pitch conversion pigtail to be inserted in (likely) the wide branch of the main tuning slide. But for me there is too much tubing to lower the pitch from A=459Hz to A=440Hz. And too little to take it down to an emergency G bass with too short a slide.
I am perfectly aware this is a conical list, but there are so many repairmen and cross-over players here, where I happen to be a member.

Interesting. It looks more likely the extra tubing goes where the f attachment connects on other trombones.
I am not sure which key it would put it in. I found this discussion on a trombone forum:

I wish the pictures had better detail. At first glance... that 'loopy thing' looks like some sort of conversion. After noting that the slide fits to the bell section via a tapered ferrule.... I don't think that 'loopy thing' belongs with the instrument at all.

I also noticed that one and did also wonder what it is. It looks a bit, but not exact, like the extra tubing for a B&H Betty model G/D bass trombone to make it a G/C. If so one could speculate over why it is located in the Perfecta case?!

I found an old one with high and low version tuning slides. Looks more like what one can think of.

Actually, it's a G crook, fit between the bell and slide to make it a bass trombone.
Yes - you loose 7th position. It's an imperfect "doublers" option. You still have a diatonic instrument, but you lose low Db and Ab. But if you're a busy bandsman, it could come in handy!
