Cool horn, maybe someone can chime in on how well (or bad) they play in tune

They play very well in tune...for me but I have learned to deal with certain idiosyncrasies that King Eb Tubas have (1st valve...)

Assuming that you already know that this is an Eb they play great. Especially if you get the first valve slide turned around so you can pull it from the top. Tuba Tinker plays on one of these from time to time and I think he may have more than one. Perhaps he'll chime in. Ed

Re: King 1235
I've owned several of the King model 1235 tubas... including one that I had Sam Gnagy put a 4th valve on before I had the tools to do it myself. I particularly like the fixed recording bell as it makes for a much better sounding tuba than the ones with the detachable bell.EdFirth wrote:Assuming that you already know that this is an Eb they play great. I don't own any more of the Eb Kings. I've more-or-less 'graduated' to BBb horns and now enjoy using the King 1241/2341 recording bell horns for Dixieland stuff.
These are good, solid tubas. But... as you pointed out... intonation of many notes that involve the 1st valve can stand a little 'assistance'. These are great horns for Dixieland use.
