The 191's are a little wonky playing aren't they? Fat tone yes, but a little uneven sort of like a Cerveny?

With a PT36. And I'm just an amateur who does no slide pulling.

That Miraphone 191 looks to be in excellent condition. Bet the price will really rise the last day though. One of the best BBb's out there. I liked your 191 recordings, SplatterTone 8)

Thanks. I'm thinking one reason Rutter has tuba in only two numbers of the "Feel the Spirit" suite is because he didn't have a 191 in the band ... although he might state otherwise

Yes, Splattertone's 191 sounding really good! Big fat and EVEN tone. :D

Four days left on the ebay horn.

Agreed. The 191 (5 valve) has been my horn for 6 years (most of my undergrad and any playing since). Never failed me! I am adding an F to my arsenal, but I doubt I will ever part ways with my 191 permanently. I don't think "wonky" would describe them.

If it's in good condition, somebody got a mighty fine deal.

Hell of a price!

I've found them to be a difficult around Db-B below the staff*, but I've never owned one or played one for a few days to see if I could get around that. :D

*It seems that if a Bb tuba has any problem, this is it and it seems more noticeable on larger ones.

It finally went at $3050. Not a bad price for a Miraphone. Someone got a good deal I'd say.

Bumped because people who espouse a certain reaction should also be subject to that reaction when effectively f'palmed (also, did that image change? I was searching for 191 and this came up differently than I remember)!
