Someone sent me some pictures of that horn a couple of days ago. It might say "Marzan" on it somewhere but it's not what is normally considered a Marzan rotary tuba. Someone might have put a Marzan-engraved bell on some other European horn. You will find convincing pictures of Marzan tubas on my web page.

(EDIT)

I spoke with the seller a bit ago. The bell is indeed engraved "Marzan". I'll just venture a guess that the body is Bohm & Meinl or other European maker that may have used the same collar/tenon set as was put on the Marzan and Bohm & Meinl tubas. I have a Marzan here now with an upright detachable bell that appears to have the same collar/tenon.

I'm not interested in buying this horn myself because it would only be to resell. However... this horn might be a 'steal' for someone wanting a large European rotary tuba.

Like I mentioned earlier.... I spoke with the seller (who I know through previous conversations) and he mentioned that he had the horn in the presence of another repairman and it was noted that the body did not appear to be a Marzan but rather that of another European brand of tuba... probably manufactured within the same sphere of influence as Bohm & Meinl. The bell and bell collar are definitely Bohm & Meinl origin. Those bells are interchangeable between some horns that are branded 'Sander's' and 'York Master'. I have a true Marzan (Bohm & Meinl) piston horn here now and the detachable bell is the same as the seller's.

This is probably a 'real steal' for someone seeking a big European rotary tuba with a detachable bell... provided the mechanics of the horn are in good condition.
