Hey Kiltie,
I've been tempted by that Contempora for awhile. Either another valve or an upright bell might push me over the edge. I missed an auction on a clapped out 3v with a useable two piece upright bell about 2 months ago I thought the bell would go good with this horm. These are supposed to be good players but I have doubts they'd play better then my 1241. The Sousa/helicon combo looks like a steal. It sounds like you're pretty snowed in up there. Stay warm and practice.

Looks like a Conn 4J or whatever the CC tuba is, but with a sousaphone flare on a bell stack

This is in Eugene, OR. We have a few members at UofO. Anybody know anything about this horn or the seller, 'The Tuba Czar"?

The"Tuba Czar" has been active in the local tuba scene in Eugene for many years. When I bought my 1241 from him he said his hearing was keeping him from playing anymore. He does a few horn modifications on the side as well as buy and sell horns. He does know his tubas and he has some interesting stuff from time to time. He's a really interesting guy to speak with.
