I am currently playing a late 1930's York 3v Silver w/ gold wash, it has a nice normal sized body and a 26" bell, the bell socket is quite large and has four bells screws. (Should be the sousa in my Avatar) A friend dropped off a 40's York sousa for me to play around with a bit. My first thought at seeing the bell, was that it was an Eb. I was wrong, when the horn was brought into my shop. It has a full inside loop on the body. It seems that the Yorks' also made a "Junior" Bb Sousa from it's Eb brother. The inside body loop is only an 1.25 - 1.5 diameter section. Plays well, is signifcantly lighter than mine. But definitely sports a bell similar to a 26K & 28K Conn. It also has a very small bore section, also possibly the Eb valves. But looking at the bell socket, I think this is a "junior" Bb sousa.
