That doesn't sound suspicious to me. I wouldn't want some bum to know were I live and pay me with a NSF check. I imagine there aren't many central meeting locations in small towns.

Tomorrow I'm picking up, in the Chicago area, a tuba case I bought on eBay. The guy wants to meet me in a WalMart lot there.

Yeah the whole rig seems a little cheap, but not too bad if you are a really motivated seller. The cabinet is nice, but the head is a little weak.

We all know that only tubes could bring out the richness of a tuba with amplification. Solid-state electronics just don't cut it.

I have a 550W head with a tube Pre...with a 4x10 cabinet and a 1x15 cabinet. I don't use them much anymore.....but maybe I should try cranking the jumbo through that setup....oddly enough. I've never tried mic-ing one of my horns.

Also, I DO have a boutique fuzz pedal called an " Attack Goat". .....it really does go all the way up to 11. ....I even used it at my gig on Saturday night.....only to about 7 though!

My old Kustom-family (Woodson) transistor two-columm PA (same early '70's vintage) with four 10's in each column is a hoss with a very nice voice. I can't turn it up above "2" in our house - even in the large rooms. I could probably use it to repel coyotes or scare the fish.

Nice! I used to have an 1969 Acoustic 360/361. I bought it my senior year of high school in '93. It was awesome....and super loud! I sold it about a decade ago since I didn't use it. Would love it back....but I doubt I'd move it to any gigs.

My big rig now is all GK/SWR. I haven't used any of it in almost two years though. ....and I have never had a full tube head.....

I now go direct to the PA and use a Tech21 VT Bass to get an Ampeg-y sound. I have also recently acquired a "pedal" preamp that is a clone of the Acoustic 360 Pre-amp head...so I want to integrate that in my setup somehow too. this is a nice lightweight system that sounds good. My band uses in-ear monitors...and if you couple that with a buttkicker platform....you'd have no idea you weren't standing in front of a wall of cabinets....if you wanted to hear that!!!

I think my love of big sousaphones and bass guitar gear G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome)....seem to be actively fueling each other!
