Surely the poster is looking for a sousaphone. I doubt if he has one of Brian Kane's plastic tubas!

Yeah, and sounds like he knows exactly what sousaphone - and, am I right, that also happens to be the sousaphone of choice in the New Orleans scene?

I hate Conn sousaphones and tubas. I love King products. Always have.

King is gay! Conn rules! Seriously, though, if 9 out of 10 banda tuba players recommend a King sousaphone, that means a lot. (But if I had one, I'd still trade it for that truck.)

I used Conns all my school band years - excellent ones, too. But the Army used Kings and I just loved them. I especially loved that you could tune the 1st slide while you played. Great sound with lots of color. The big Conns are so flabby and dead when I hear others play them, like the big Conn lap sousaphones. Big for the sake of big is not a good thing IMHO...

You mean the jumbos? I think Conns sound good, especially the jumbos with the factory top slides on all the valves, but Kings are where it's at.

I just have never cared for the sound of any Conn tuba or euphonium. Neither when I play them nor when I hear others play them. I hated the sound that Mr. Phillips got on his. I cannot stand the big fog horns. I prefer the King tone by far for American-type tubas. I am an old Alexander man and still love that tone over all others. And Conn is just too simple for me in the color department. I do not know why. They are always fun horns to play, but I never enjoy the product, no matter who is driving the thing...

Given the simultaneous decline of housing values and increase in sousaphone values, maybe we will see houses traded for sousaphones soon, too.
