There is TON of cylindrical tubing on that horn, and not much taper until past the bottom bow. I wonder how these played. I am a fan of Buescher, but Eb tubas of that vintage scare me, from an intonation point of view. Maybe better with four valves...

Looks as conical as could be to me; more clearly visible from the back side. There is indeed a fair amount of straight tubing; without the 4th valve, there'd be a lot less.

hmmm...maybe we need a discussion of cylindrical vs conical tubing.

This tuba looks pretty conical to me. The bows are just a tad bit skinnier than the 'Monster' Eb tubas, that's all. The wrap is pretty open, but still conical. Only the valve section is cylindrical, like most.
