Anyone know more about this horn, brand? I'm not sure if it is one of the Chinese models or what. Thanks for your help.

Clearly the seller is hoping you won't find out anything of importance about it before you drop $1500 you can't think of anything else to do with on him.

Antigua Winds, Inc. was founded by Fred Hoey in 1991 in San Antonio, Texas.Bring on the next stereo typical attitude! All you have to do is look it up on the internet.I wouldn't buy it cause it's front action.Ilike my pistons onthe top.

Well that's fine. I don't know Fred Hoey from Adam's house cat. I do know that this auction says absolutely nothing of any use about the instrument, and the seller has obscured it in the photographs by leaving it in the plastic wrapping. Why would anyone buy it when it's presented this way?

Fact is, I just pointed out the fact that it is an American made horn, I 'll leave the rest up to buyer beware.

The seller is a boob for presenting an item this way. As to the origin, that isn't stated. It just claims that it is "German engineered". T'ain't listed any more. It's "not available". Is that different from "sold"?

American made? It's not a King or Conn, and certainly not a Kanstul. (Even the King, Conn, and Holton tubas are no longer US made, if I'm properly informed.) Combine that small detail with the fact that that the case is an enlarged version of my "German engineered" Schiller euphonium case (made by Jin Bao), I certainly have my doubts that this is an American-made tuba.

WHAT??? Where in the heck did you get that piece of miss-information?
And besides.... Valves cut to a tolerance of .005" would be very, very bad. Stay away as this is just another of those horns that won't even be usable for parts in a couple of years. You'd think they could at least remove the plastic to show the 'fine finish'!

quote from the Antigua Winds website:
In the course of two decades of product development and hard work, Antigua Winds has setup our own state of the art factories in Taiwan and China to ensure the high quality instruments Fred Hoey demanded.
So much for American made.
Why hasn't this company been heard of before now?
