Is there a tax advantage

...to carrying a relatively low end item in your inventory at a price that guarantees it will continue not selling? It's none of my business, but I am curious why this listing has been such a stable fixture on eBay for nearly three years.

I remember seeing that tuba (or one similar to this) at Custom Music in 1996. It was offered at or around that price and I remember the salesman saying that you could put more valves on it and it would be worth $3,000. I left the store thinking that even if I put more valves on it, I could never sell it for more than $1,500.

Wow. That's still who's selling it. 1996! At this point they must figure it's some kind of good luck charm.

I would normally guess that the listing is just for the benefit of cheap international advertising. However... the "seller's other items" aren't even very interesting.
