My guess is if Dillon Music is selling it, it wouldn't be a good candidate to switch to CC.

I have been to that generally, the Martins don't make good cuts for two reasons. They taper too fast and intonation is thrown off, and the Bell/bottom bows don't fit with King, York, or Holton BBb parts. I think they made very few 4/4 "Monster" size tubas in BBb. I happen to have one and it plays like a dream in BBb, so why cut it?
Just my two cents.

This one is in Eb, and most Dillon cuts seem to be BBb to CC conversions...

Doesn't Sam Gnagey use Eb bells and bows to make his CC tubas?

Sorry for the wait, Kiltie. Here are some pics.
The 1925 Martin Renowned Before restoration:
After Restoration by Martin Wilk:
1931 Martin Mammoth:
I believe that Sam uses only King, York, and Holton Bells for his 4/4 projects. But his 6/4's have been Martins.
Also, the Martin renowned is more like a 5/4 instrument with some fatter bows and bell than the Kings, Holtons, and Yorks.
The original valve bore was .656, the replacment valves are King .687 bore. I think a .750 would work well on this instrument too.

Cool horns! I remember seeing a front valve Martin euph on Ebay years ago- same square bottom bow, fairly big horn, went for 125. Damn!

Sorry, I gave that case to a friend with a Renowned EEb.

Well, Martin did make two sizes of EEb. A smaller model similar to the Conn professional or 11J models.
And the "Monster" size, which I beleive is the same bottom bow and bell.

According to the Martin sale literature, they have a Renowned Monster Eb with a 20" bell to give the sound of a BBb without having to learn new fingerings (assuming your an Eb player). Does that make you both kind of right?
