You could list the condition as "pre-refurbished!" Or simply, "prefurbished"

Although reparable (at some large cost) this one should probably be put out of its misery and be melted to an unrecognizable blob of brass. Kind of like the Wicked Witch of the West when she had water thrown on her. It would be the compassionate thing to do...

From my perspective as a repairman... the things that look the worst are often the easiest to fix. New bow guards can be had for less than $250. Add a new Asian bell and some dentwork.... provided the valves are in good shape, and that horn would make someone a good player for under $2,000.
Of course... it would have been a better buy at $300!

When I see tubas like that, though, I'm considering the likelihood of ratted-out valves and red rot all over the place.
I totally agree that $1,000 would be too much for a couple of slide components, some stop arms, and assorted hardware. Like I mentioned.... $300 would have been a more attractive price.
