Interesting horn, but the configuration looks a little more modern than 1860s to 1870s to me. Opinions?

It's interesting how manufacturers used different ferrules, thumb rings, etc. over the decades. That tuba doesn't even really look like a typical Alexander, but then again, we are used to seeing Alexanders from the 1950s - present.
I have a hard time believing this horn is from the Civil War era... :roll: I'm gonna say 1900 - 1940s..............that really narrows it down :lol: It's anyone's guess.
There is a picture of Arnold Jacobs with a new (at the time) Alex F early in his CSO career in the book "Song and Wind" that looks kinda similar to this tuba.

I think they have their age estimate about a century off!
