Is this the same model of tuba that Marty Neilan has?
It looks so great, it's hideous... and it looks so hideous, it looks great.

Some 20 years ago I played in a concert band section with this tuba's owner and he played this horn. It has a marvelous dark tone and yet projects very well. A very nice axe!

The shape of the body does look similar. The "trim" all looks to be somewhat different, so it was most likely a different manufacturer. Time period is probably similar. Mine was made in Germany, if the ad is correct this was Czech.

I am very partial to these older Cervenys.
Sometimes I wonder how many of us would rather have an older, more "experienced" horn like this than most of the new models available. There are advantages to new solder and new design and assembly techniques, but a lot of those advantages can be mimicked on the older horns by really good repair technicians.
Cool horn!

To my knowledge, Chronolith still has one for sale.

I was a little surprised this big Cerveny did not sell. I was kind of expecting some competing bids in the last half second and a sale price above the BIN. Dan said it best the other day--this is an odd time to sell a tuba!

It's mid August--people getting ready to go back to school, end of Summer Vacation time, lots and lots of used tubas for sale, etc. Over $3k--not surprising....
