But I can't find the thread and I'm not sure what I would type into the search function to find it, but what were the thoughts on this thing?

$400 for a four-valve tuba doesn't seem bad and it's only 3 1/2 hours away from me...I do have a couple friends in Des Moines too, although they don't play tuba... your thoughts?

Fun horns but not spectacular players ... in my humble opinion, of course. Made by Cerveny. I've had a couple of those.

I was curious about the finish. I contacted them and they said their son played it through high school and it's perfectly playable, slides and rotors all move.

A 'perfectly playable' Cerveny? That sort of proves it's a scam! :) :tuba:

Just joking. It's probably a deal just for the parts!

I've thought about that too...it might make a starting point for me to build my own CC! Especially if you replace the valves with pistons, shortening that leadpipe might get you most of the way there!

I've had at least one of those beasts where the leadpipe had to be cut just to make it play in Bb! Flatter than a pancake!
