Thank you for pointing this out, Tabor. I've emailed the seller and plan to go have a look tomorrow.

I emailed him about it too, but I'm in Nebraska and couldn't find anybody to pick it up and ship it to me. Just FYI, it was originally listed at only $200. Looks like he increased the price and added more photos after I emailed him and asked for more from the back and sides. Good luck! If you want to ship it to me....

I looked, but passed.

It's in rough shape, with a lot of bad solders filling huge gaps, and what looks like some red rot in the main tuning slide.

And honestly I just didn't feel good about the provenance. Some things about the story, what little I was able to get told, don't add up in my mind.

Red flag on the play.
Exactly. And that's only one of them once you're in the room.

Were all three pistons there? Was the bell good?

It would be worth $200 just for the parts. You see quite a few of these things missing pistons and with smashed bells.

Yes, the bell is intact and the valves are all there. Other things being equal it is obviously a tremendous bargain.

It may be unfair of me, but several things about the whole situation said to me, "This was stolen from a school." I've got no proof, just several unanswered questions and inconsistencies that led me to think it was better to walk away.

Understood.
