Koper is indeed the word for brass. Brass instruments are thus koperinstrumenten or koperblazers. In this instance the seller is basically telling us that the tuba's not silver, it's brass.

Mmmm; "messing" is the Dutch word for brass. "Koper" ( = "copper") is a sloppy Dutch colloquialism for "brass instruments".

Whether it's sloppy or not is something I'll leave to the linguists. It is however the correct term. A brass section is een kopersectie, and not een messingsectie.
Anyway, we've gotten off the beaten track. I'd never heard of Albin Feiler but this tuba at least looks like a respectable instrument in the pic's. For whatever that's worth...

You've had Google translate a whole bunch of other words, but "koper" means "copper" in Dutch.

-Koper has 3 meanings, copper and buyer being two of them. In the context of music (which is what we were discussing) the only correct translation for koper is brass. In the business world a translation of koopman as "buy man" or "buying man" would also be incorrect. The word we're looking for is merchant.

Look at it the other way around; if a Dutch musician person came to the US and said "the tuba is a member of the copper family" people would look at him with a WTF. This person's translation of koper to copper would be incorrect because the context in which he uses "copper" is incorrect. I've no idea what koper's etymology is, but considering that brass (the brass alloy's we musicians talk about!) consists of somewhere between the 70%-90% copper (depending on the type of brass) I'd say this isn't far from the mark.
