and at what cost? Does it need a whole new bell, lead pipe and rotary valve? I'd love to get a miraphone for my son to play - he plays a 186 at school. I just had the schools one repair - it looks like this one needs a LOT of work.
any advice?

Re: Is this repairable?
This horn is going to need a new bell and two rotor repairs or two new rotors... plus some dentwork that really can't be identified until it's actually 'on the bench'. Quite often the damage you can't see is the toughest to fix. A new Miraphone bell would be cost prohibitive and I would use a bell from a 'clone'. That would not sacrifice any of the great Miraphone sound.
The biggest problem is that most people don't realize the cost of repairs and horns such as this tend to go at auction for 'stupid' prices.
Add maybe $1,500 to the final price and you might be pretty close. However... damage you can't see or the seller does not know about could drive that price up somewhat more.

Looks like a 'parts horn' or a senior project for a tech school student.
