You'd think that if somebody was going to copy an F tuba, they'd pick something better than a Mirafone 180 ....

The 180 is a fine little F tuba for a lot of things. If you are using an F tuba for sonic demolition, it is probably not the horn for you.

I played a Daylan at TMEA and it ain't half bad. Don't knock it until you try it.

Here is the webpage:

http://www.dalyantubas.com/html/dalyan_low_brass.html

At least form the images, these horns look much more competitively built than many of the other Chinese products. Orpheus music is the proprietor behind the webpage. Images are available on all of the tubas.

The BBb's look to be:

Bavarian = Mirafone 186

Mainz = Alex 4/4 (or Cerveny 4/4 to a degree)

Perinet = DePrins looks to be the best match. Maybe Mahillon?

Swiss = Mirafone 191

Orff = Mirafone 184 or 185

Berlin = Meinl-Weston 25

Prague = Cerveny Piggy

The CC tuba looks to be unique, the closest horn I remember to those dimensions was the Yamaha YCB-661, but has the wrap of a Mirafone 186. The F and Eb look to be copies of older Mirafone models.

The Kaiser Euphonium looks to be a copy of the YEP-321.

Not sure about that one... 8)
Hmmmmmm... Then I guess I'm not sure what other brand you mean.
Wouldn't be the one that starts with "Bar", would it? :)

My guess is Sanders. (I'm pretty sure about that one)

Every one of these Chinese "brands" seems to copy the exact same B&S/Weltgang BBb model which makes me wonder if they all don't come out of the same shop/factory (or whatever).

I'm thinking that a lot of folks think these Chinese made instruments are bad because they've already got their minds made up.

Christian, who has played a Haydyn and it was not a bad instrument
