Interesting Ophecleide in Germany

Post by Alex C »

The instrument listed for sale is a "Neuwertige Ophikléide zu verkaufen. (Firma Syhre, Leipzig)" Image
So it is a rotary valve ophicleide made by Syhre in Leipzig with radial flow valves from Meinlschmidt. It was too interesting not to share. http://www.tubaforum.de/html/kaufen.html

It's a German site so the rest of the translation will have to come from someone else. It is an interesting site at any rate.

Would be interesting to hear its sound compared to a 'real' keyed ophicleide

It is listed under the heading 'Cimbasso'. Looks pretty run-of-the-mill for a recreation...
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Yes, just another wretched valved brass. Cimbasso too - originally, so I suppose properly, a keyed instrument, true?
