That auction makes me wary. The seller has no eBay history. I'd like to know the instrument's history.

I have reached out and asked him to take a picture of the miraphone stamp. We will see.

So this guy said "no" when I asked him about showing me the miraphone engraving. I am guessing it is a stencil or something he came into and is trying to pass off. He also has a 186-4u for sale. Strange. I would steer clear.

The only thing I've heard bad about this horn is that the Db below the staff is a bit flat (I think). Even so, were it still available at $800, I'd jump on it in spite of wife's wishes. $1800 is still within swingin' range though.
I own a 191 and that Db is actually sharp. So is the D right above it.

Up to $2,025 right now, still a good deal!

In the 186 listing for sale the pictures are taken at a storage unit facility. Maybe Storage Wars goes tuba? Very odd.

Wonder why he has a reserve on the 186 and not the 191?

I saw that too. I really think this is a some sort of storage locker super score. How come I never find a locker that has two miraphones in it.

And only $50 for shipping... I just might bid on it. And then drive to Tulsa to pick it up.

$3151. A good deal, but definitely not a smoking good deal in light of the seller issues. Anybody here get it?

Anybody else got second chance offer? (that, of course, if you participated in bidding) I'm not even at the top of the list. Highest bidder already left feedback: "Tried to sell us a tuba that doesn't exist. This fellow should be in jail!" If anybody is bidding on his 186 beware!

I received an ebay message from the seller. I had messaged him about seeing the miraphone stamp clearer. He said that the original seller backed out, and that he would sell it to me for 2500 if I paid 500 up front for shipping. I said, hmm. ok. could I see the miraphone stamp up close? take a clear picture of it. He said, you can see it in the other photos and I don't need to answer to you.

Seems legit.

"I don't need to answer to you" is the perfect way to sell something.

Why would buyer with 894 feedbacks back out and leave such a nasty feedback if it's legit? $500 up front for shipping seems excessive unless you are overseas, what about the rest of funds, COD? :)

the whole "seems legit" part was sarcasm...

he messaged me back after pushing harder:

"I understand your concern. I am very upset about the feedback I can not get it erased for 4 days because of eBay's policy. The guy who won wanted to pick up the tuba in person and pay me in cash. I told him no that he had to pay over the internet and then the guy started throwing a fit. And I restricted him from bidding on my items and he left the feedback witch it is very false statements he left. I got several pictures uploaded, you do have buyer protection and you also are protected threw PayPal this tuba is beautiful and it is in very good condition "

I messaged him back and asked once again for a new picture and he said:

"you and that other *** whole can **** yourselves. I will sell this for 3 times the price when I relist it."
