It's an attractive price, if you think the shank is going to hold up to regular use for a few years.

I have had one of these for a while and it has held up suprisingly well.

I guess I have no concept of value for one of these. I've turned several of these for friends (including Lee Stofer). They work fine. A good out door mouthpiece. To me, they play like most plastic mouthpieces. They take me about an hour because I'm rather slow on my lathe work. The price seems a bit steep to me.

We'll talk about this. I'll need help with exact sizing, but Santa may be able to whip something out.

NOTE: Chad is a close friend. This is not an open invitation for others, nor am I in the business of turning mouthpieces.

I turn serpent mouthpieces, and they take just over 2 hours to fabricate. Tuba/Contraserpent, about 3.

However, moisture can be an issue on some woods, and only a few are non toxic (or rarely) and very resistant to moisture. They are certainly fun to turn, but they have limited use. I have two which are impregnated with a polymer from Austria which are completely moisture-proof and have gold shanks. I hope to have the time to perfect making something closer to that soon.

These posted have a fascinating look to them! I like! I may have to throw down!

OK, here is a peek at what Chad may be getting from Santa. (Please don't tell him and ruin the surprise.)
