Those "banda" sousas, necks and mouthpieces all seem to have that deeply-etched gaudy engraving. It's just too much :!:

Bling bling! And a gift box! :)

But really, I kind of like it too. Has anyone ever seen a sousaphone *bell* engraved like this? That seems like the next step, an entire bell totally decked out. It would take a very long time to do, though. Maybe some poor soul started long ago, and is still working on it. :tuba:

Banda is what it is, and if it's your thing, then I think it's very cool to go all out like this.

I don't know the difference between engraving and carving here.

It looks a lot like gun engraving to me and I, too, wonder how much metal is left in some of those deep cuts.

Yep! Although now that I see it, I don't particularly like it or think it's practical. Artistically, I do appreciate the amount of skill required to pull that off though. Interesting.

Seems like a drive to Sioux City is in my future. :)
