I think this King is a 2341. They didn't come out until, I think, the late 70's. Note the top pull first valve slide, the non curly cue third slide, and the smaller 19 in. Bell. Also the squared off cases. The 1241's had a kidney shaped bottom case and a bell shaped bell case. A 1241 would look like the King that Lee has for sale on his site(with a detachable bell ) Not that it makes that much difference, it's just not that old. I think. Ed

You are 100% correct, Ed. That horn's serial number has a prefix of '41'. When added to the magic number of '50'... that makes the date of manufacture 1991. It's indeed a 2341.

From published King serial number lists:
- From 1987 to 1995 the prefix plus 50 is the year of manufacture.
- From 1996 to 2000 the number '5' preceded the serial number.
- From 2001 the prefix was dropped altogether.

So if mine is 597***, it was built between 1996 and 2000?

No, Jordon. If you only have six digits (597***) and
NO prefix, the horn was built between 1975 and 1980. A prefix would be separated from the six digits by a space.

Like this horn. Don't have the bread.
