Quarters

Post by Uncle Buck »

So, did someone with short fingers put those quarters on the valves? I guess there's no way to know how they were attached, and how difficult it might be to remove them.

Most likely soft-soldered. Any shop should be able to sweat them off, buff the keys and relacquer them if you wanted it back the original way.

Yes.

If this is correct,
The bell measures 14"
then it is definitely a Mirafone 184 CC.

Do you want one?
No not really- I only asked to see if I can rule out the possibility that this tuba is a 184 BBb.

I agree that it's a great quintet horn. However, I like the setup of mine (5th rotor on the right thumb) better than the one that sold, that had the valve operated by the left hand.

Chen, you can still come over and try mine in my living room if you want, sometime.
