Rich Nahatski never played a small three valve BBb horn in his orchestra. That ad is simply a lie, price notwithstanding.

In my old Alexander catalog from the late 1970s, this tuba is listed as Model# 1162. There is also a Bb "Bariton" listed as Model #1148 and some sousaphones listed as Models 1166 and 1167. All look to me as made by Böhm & Meinl and stenciled by Alexander.
Still not worth $8K.

Is the Bariton a top valve configuration, with bell front? I had one like that (but it didn't look anything like this - ferrules different, lots of silver-plated bling - but it did come to me from Colorado.)

No, the 1148 Bariton has three
front action valves with a bell front.

Hello Tubenet,
This tuba was made by Böhm & Meinl probably sometime in the mid to late 1970s. Whether Alexander originally sold it as a stencil or someone later glued on the Alexander badge is irrelevant, the tuba was made by B&M.
This exact model comes up for sale in Germany every so often. Prices range from 150Euro for a good playing beater to 500 Euro for a museum quality example.
While this model plays 'ok', the american horns off which this model was based are superior.
