Yes, that's a York. During the Carl Fischer era the "o" in York was pointed at the top causing people top mistake "YORK" for "YARK".

The braces appear to be the same as those used on the Böhm and Meinl York Master tubas, as does the female detachable bell section.

I'm wondering if B&M made this horn for Carl Fischer, badged as "York", before the "York Master" name was used?

Chicken and egg...
Since B&M used their own serial numbers and likely made "York", York Artist" and "York Master" tubas/sousaphones it's hard to tell what may have preceded or been concurrent with what. All three lines were in some catalogs...

Much better to say Yark instead of some listers calling York horns Dorks...

Ya gotta wonder if old J.W. thought about how some people would interpret that Old English engraved "Y"...

(Although it could be worse- he might have gone with Comic Sans... !)
