Nice sousaphone. I understand Conn/Selmer is reviving the 40K model number. It will be a four piston version of the current SHORT-ACTION 20K sousa.

A four-piston version of the Conn 20K is due out in late Spring. I don't think it's any deep-dark secret but I won't divulge the source although I've heard the same thing from other reliable persons.Chasetbr wrote:That would be awesome! Four valve sousaphones are a mixed blessing. The extra weight is substantial, and a lot of sousaphone gigs involve standing or moving around.
I have a matching set of silver Buescher sousaphones. One has three valves and the other has four. Both play well, but the three valve horn is more comfortable and easier to carry in and out. I don't usually play the notes between low Eb and pedal BBb on sousaphone gigs, and more perfect intonation on a few notes is not critical, either.
