"One of the valves is a little stuck, but I think some oil should do the trick. "
This is not exactly a statement that I would expect in an auction from someone that has as many horns as you list in your signature.
From a pawn shop, I might believe this. From you, I think "valve problems," esp since it is a Schiller. If oiling the valves would fix it, why wouldn't you???

He has evidently run out; clearly the sousaphone would be more useful to someone with access to oil.
I think bloke has mentioned experience with 4 valve Chinese sousaphones owned by high schools. 4th valve often stuck. Seems the utility of that feature was more apparent to those who chose the instrument, than it was to those who played it, though I suppose it could be exposed to more stress by design, like the 1st valve casing may suffer from impacts from the leadpipe.
