At one time (maybe still?) Ebay more or less officially advised sellers that raising the price of an unsold item can help it sell. Beats me why it works.
It doesn't always, of course, especially in the fairly small circle of tuba gear buyers. Once I noticed a magic tuba for sale for twice what any informed buyer would consider paying. It sat unsold for months, maybe years. The seller's solution was to raise the price by a thousand dollars. I don't know if it ever sold, but I can certainly guess.
