The piston block would actually work great in contra configuration (not just convertible), the valve loops would be on the normal side and the comp loops wouldn't be in the way. Weight gain would be pretty negligible over normal valves.
You would want it on a Yamaha body, a 28-lb 100% Besson contra would be hell. The ghetto rig was pretty funny though!
