What is this? Miraphone Euph?

This is a very intriguing looking instrument -- seems to be bigger than a normal Euph/Baritone, almost looks like a small Bb tuba, but the seller says it uses a Euph-size mouthpiece. Anyone shed more light on this?

That is a tenor tuba. Very cool, and pretty uncommon here in the US. They have come up for sale from time to time around here, but maybe once every couple of years. You could use it as an euphonium, but the timbre is a bit different. Best suited for Holtz and other orchestral stuff that has tenor tuba parts.

I've been poking around on Miraphone's website and it seems to be a Kaiser Baritone, model 56 (or its predecessor). Anyone have one of these? I'd love to know how it plays.

I am in Denver, I'm just not sure what I would use it for. :-) I might still be tempted to go and check it out though.

I was looking back over my pictures from the Miraphone factory tour a few weeks ago and I realized that my wife took a picture of the tooling needed to make this instrument. It seems kind of serendipitous and I should buy it -- or at least that's what I told her! :tuba:

I did not, just too busy and don't really have a good reason to purchase. The seller did tell me he had an offer of $1100 that he was thinking of taking, which seemed reasonable.
