Morutto Helicon on EBAY

Looks a lot like the ancient Squaglia I have that is in worse shape, though all the parts are there. Definitely Italian. Horn-u-Copia shows Morutto was an instrument dealer in Torino, Italy from 1850-1926, so this may be a stencil.
ISTR these small-bell helicons were designed for cavalry bands, where a larger bell would have more of a chance to catch the wind and blow the rider off the horse. This one's missing the valve paddle rack and linkage, maybe it got knocked off in a fall?

Thanks for the info. I was thinking fodder for a frankenhelicon possibly. Or and interesting wall hanger.
