Interesting 4 rotor USSR tuba

Post by thejester10276 »

It looks like either a 163 or a copy of it. For 9̶0̶0̶$̶ 750$ it may not be a terrible consideration. It also shows a gig bag in the pictures but I'm not sure if it's included or not.

Is it just me or does that rug look like Mark's (bisontuba) that I've seen in his photos? Is it yours Mark?

Mixed parts. Braces, thumb ring, harness loops, and tubing configuration says Czech... not USSR. Looks like a B & S 101 stencil to me.

I've dealt with this seller (who is in Ukraine, not WNY) several times. The fact that he uses the word "Leningrad" in the listing makes me think that it is a Leningrad tuba. Usually he lists unmarked instruments as "Soviet ear. or "USSR").

He is good to deal with and I'm sure if you asked he would send a photo showing the stamp if there is one.

I think you're right. With no bell kranz it's probably a value-line model variation (such as Weltklang). For that price and shipping, if it's in good shape it's not a bad deal. These are nice tubas.

I messaged you about this earlier If it doesn't interest you, I'll put it up on the boards.

Here is the perfect, almost complete CC project!

It's a Boston BBb body cut to CC with a Yamaha Bell. It's in perfect condition, and bare brass.

With it, I have a 4 valve Boehm and Meinl BBb valve set (.750 bore) with slides that's not as pretty, but the valves are tight. All that needs to happens is have the valve slides cut and installed. Wa-la! CC tuba!

I'm asking $2000.00 OBO for all of the parts.
