Looks like too many branches (or too long) to be in E flat

Maybe in CC (anything's possible, I guess).

In any event, it looks like it needs a lot of work....

I think bloke is being facetious.

That sousaphone would be in BBb if it had all of its parts. Kanstul might have some parts that would work for it - same bore as the fifth valves on their large tubas. Of course, you could just have some tubing drawn to the right bore and bend the crooks. The missing valve is another matter, that's not going to be an easy fix.

I have the perfect 4 valve king jumbo sousa cluster freshly brought back to life by Oberloh. I'd love to pick this up as a donor body for that valve cluster but that guy is smoking crack if he thinks it is worth 2300 missing all those parts.

If anyone does break down to buy it, let me know. I'd be happy to sell you the valve block and slides.

40 pounds of scrap brass with all the missing parts. I have a friend who had the same horn. He only got 2700 out of his and it was playable. Made a hell of a racket though.

We can't blame him for trying to get the most out of something that IS rare. I think some people around here prove that if you are willing to wait long enough...anything can happen.

Since I've seen this, I've really been tempted to buy it. Do I need another Jumbo? No. Do I want another Jumbo? Yes.

He seems to drop it about $100 each time it's relisted

Um, no.

All of those are BBb. The overall size and lack of parts is throwing you off.

Well... It's a Jumbo BBb. The valve cluster looks small, but that is just because you're eyes are fooled by the larger diameter branches. If you look at the top of the 3rd valve tubing, there are the tubes for the extra loop like BBbs have. Ebs don't have the loop-d-loop at the top of the 3rd...
