You understand that the "C" in "C Mahillion" stands for "Charles" and not the key of "C", correct?

Is this the one Howard Johnson uses?

It's on auction now. Will be interesting to see where it ends up. :)

It "was", but IIRC he's playing a Meinl-Weston now.

The one that HoJo played had an upright bell and I've seen his daughter Nedra playing it over the past few years. Other than the recording bell this one appears to be similar to that old one (which was sort of the basis of the MW designs).

Auction was ended because of an error in the listing. Wonder if they saw this thread?

The detachable recording bell would make this tuba kind of unique. All the ones I've seen so far, including mine, have non-detachable upright bells. The rather small bore and the resulting short valve stroke make these horns extremely agile.

I've never played one but always imagined them being similar to the Ling 12xx/23xx tubas/sousies: agile easy to play and excellent native intonation.

Just came across a removable bell model, text search for "Mahillion"
