How would "large bell not original" affect the tuning compensation system?
American sailboats, airplanes, banjos, guitars and flutes ...

I guess maybe it would be how close to the original the non-original is? Doesn't seem like the compensating system would be affected at all but the overall bugle might be a tad bit off one way or the other. I'd be mostly bothered about the "needs a valve job" part.

It is actually a pretty common practice to take an earlier Imperial and put the larger 981 sovereign bell on them. I think the Imperials had 17" bells, and the Sovereign had 19" bells.
