Yamaha sousa lot in OHIO

Post by Ltrain »

I'm not a fan of Yammys in any flavor, but at this price, I'd bite.

I like the Yammy 411 sousas; they play very well for me.
Big, clear "vanilla bite" sound with great response and good intonation. Probably second-place intonation-wise after the King sousas. 3rd partial open 'F' right below the staff tends sharp; everything else is close/on after you set your slides. In some ways, I like them better than the Yammy 201/321 tubas.
Honestly, I think they are probably the overall best of the modern sousas made today. Thicker metal than the modern Conn and King sousas, tight-tolerance pistons, one-piece brazed bell (like HN White sousas), beefy bracing; overall great fit and finish. Nuff said :tuba:
