Very cool horn - I have a 1235 from that period (c.1932) and it is a GREAT player.

The "Monster" moniker however is inaccurate - The King catalogs called the 123x tubas "medium size" bass tubas. The Monster models (121x) of the day had the same valve set - .687", like the BBb and CC Symphony tubas - but a more rapid taper through the bugle, like the York Monsters. I have to wonder if the King Monsters had similarly interesting intonation characteristics to the Yorks.

I own several Symphony model Kings and many have passed through my hands. They are among the most "point and shoot" tubas that I have played. Nice, even voices as well.
