Why does it have "Mirafone" if it is from 2000? I thought that was only used in the early days for US-market tubas due to a legal restriction on the name Miraphone and that this stopped in the late 1970s.

The serial number on the bell certainly seems to be from the "F" era... and the Millennium engraving certainly looks more recent.

Another oddity... didn't the millennium start on Jan 1, 2001? So does this commemorate the outgoing millennium?

PS -- none of this really matters, should be an outstanding tuba either way!

Yes. Something is odd about this tuba. I think this engraving was added much later. And the engraved year does appear to be inconsistent with what Miraphone actually sold. Of course, this is based on my memories and not on anything like Miraphone.de photos or materials...
